This thread tries to be a Mapping Guide for people who doesnt know how to.
If I have written something wrong or you have something to add, just post it.

First of all you need Valve Hammer Editor (The program to make maps)
Download from here: http://www.filefront.com/11691511/Valve-Hammer-Editor-Pack/
This packet includes everything you need so far.

After you have installed the Program, you can easily update it to newer version.
Download this: http://games.softpedia.com/get/Tools/Valve-Hammer-Editor.shtml and put it to C:\Program Files\Valve Hammer Editor

Now you try to run it but it says: No game configurations available. You must set them...

So now you klick YES and it opens an options box. Now you put the VHE down and you open the rar file you downloaded and there you find zhlt34x86final.zip Now make new file for those to C:\Program Files and name the file "ZHLT". Extract all to the file and open the downloaded rar again. Now you find fgd and extras folders. Those you have to extract to you VHE installation folder which is C:\Program Files\Valve Hammer Editor.
Its very important you put those exactly how I said.

Now open VHE again and go to "Game Configurations".

Now you see "Configuration" and next to it is "Edit" button. Klick it and from the new box klick "Add". Now it says "Enter game's name" and ofc you write there "Counter-Strike" (Without quotes "")

Next step is "Game data files". Klick "Add" and find C:\Program Files\Valve Hammer Editor\fgd\counter-strike\counter-strike.fgd and klick OK.

Next step is "Texture Format" and "Map Type". Those should be "WAD3(HalfLife / TFC)" and "HalfLife / TFC"

Now there is "Default PointEntity class". Put there "light" and the other is "Default SolidEntity class" and there you put "func_wall"

Next is "Game Executable Directory" and there you put C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\accname\counter-strike\
Next is "Mod Directory" and there you put C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\accname\counter-strike\cstrike\
Next is "Game Directory" and there you put C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\accname\counter-strike\valve\
Next is "RMF Directory". This is the directory where you can save your unfinished map files. So you can choose it yourself. (These are still not ready maps yet.)

Now go to "Build Programs"

Configuration should be Counter-Strike

And first step is "Game executable". There you put C:\Program Files\Steam\cstrike.exe (You can just write or copy/paste that)
Second is "CSG executable". There you put C:\Program Files\ZHLT\hlcsg.exe
3rd is "BSP executable". There you put C:\Program Files\ZHLT\hlbsp.exe
4th is "VIS executable". There you put C:\Program Files\ZHLT\hlvis.exe
5th is "RAD executable". There you put C:\Program Files\ZHLT\hlrad.exe
And the last is the directory where you want the ready maps to be placed.

Now go to "Textures"
Klick "Add WAD" and find halflife.wad and zhlt.wad (Im quite sure you dont have those so here is dl links:http://www.cstrike-planet.com/wads/320 and http://www.freeuploading.com/files/e4bZ1He/zhlt_wad.php )

Also you can add more wads but then people are gonna have to dl all the wads before they can play the map. (WADs are textures)

Now just klick OK and you can start making map. Go to File and press "New".

If something is unclear or you need more help, just ask.
